Thanks for the responses.
TBH I was leaning towards the 640d gran coupe, I just need to find one with my preferred spec:
Blue
Cream Leather
Wood Trim
Pan/Sunroof
Harmon Kardon
<60,000 miles
under £20k
I think I'll wait until next year to see if used prices drops enough for me!
Have you seen this? It's not far off your spec:TBH I was leaning towards the 640d gran coupe, I just need to find one with my preferred spec:

The extended leather is very nice IMO

You should also look out for the Comfort Seats as they are also in nappa leather. Mine are cream with a black insert and very comfortable.TBH I was leaning towards the 640d gran coupe, I just need to find one with my preferred spec:

The only thing to be aware of is the GC is very long, spiral multi storey car parks are a complete nightmare, beautifully finished interior though.
Absolutely, I'd also recommend getting the Head-up display as a very good option.Personally I didn't really enjoy my 640i GC. It looked fabulous, particularly the interior, but the road manners were shockingly bad - even the smallest pothole rattled through car and felt like I'd lost a wheel but perhaps due to the runflats.
Very uncomfortable for a long journey and not small or nimble enough to enjoy on B-roads. There is a reason they depreciate so heavily I'm afraid.

Yep, much better on non run flats, but still a big bargePersonally I didn't really enjoy my 640i GC. Or buy an SE model like mine which comes on 18" wheels with 45 profile tyres. Makes it a far more pleasant ride. Most available seem to be M Sport models but if you can find a highly specced SE I do think they are the better cars to do what they are designed for - long comfortable journeys.
I went the other way, I had a 2013 640d Gran coupe m sport in Deep Sea blue, which replaced a 2007 E70 X5 30d SE. We only had it around 18 months as my wife and daughter really missed the space of the X5, especially on our road trips to France, and flexibility to carry family and friends.
I found it a really long car, well it is over 5 metres long and difficult place on some smaller roads. We replaced it with a 2015 F15 X5 40d Msport, in Carbon black, with a fairly high spec, and went for the 40d as i'd got used to the performed of the 640d.
Both have their merits and the 640d was perfectly reliable, but wasn't loved in the family like the X5 is.

We’ve got a 2016 X5 40d. It’s a great big comfy barge but I’d never describe it as a drivers car. It pulls well in a straight line but is big and heavy. Don’t expect to turn or stop quickly.
I've driven a 2016 X5 40d, and I've owned a F13 640d. Neither of them are drivers cars for me. The 640d was a lovely car don't get me wrong, but it wasn't much fun at all to throw around, and it preferred a much more cruising style I thought. So if I was to choose between the 2, I'd personally go in the direction of the X5 I think.
