2017 G30 530i - 'jolt' during cold startup; is it normal?

I've bought the above as a runaround for a bit. Something I've noticed is that there's quite a jolt as the engine fires up on a cold start. It only seems to do it when cold, I've not noticed it during normal driving when the stop/start kicks in - although admittedly I've only had it a couple of days and done fairly minimal distance so far.

I've Googled and found similar comments on various fora, however not for this car/engine and they seem to be more about transmission - it feels more engine-related to me as it only does it when the engine catches and starts. Otherwise the car drives beautifully and smoothly. It's under BMW AUC warranty so if it's something it shouldn't be doing then I can get it booked in to be looked at. I'd have assumed it was doing it whilst it was for sale with them though and if it was something out of the ordinary then someone would've said, "Hey, we ought to get that looked at before we sell it..."

Just in case this helps anyone; the car went in to BMW last night so they could have it for a cold start this morning. They replicated the issue and it's engine mounts - they're replacing them this afternoon so that should resolve things!

That's interesting thanks for the update, my 630 does the very same thing. I assumed it was a misfire or something but mounts make sense.

No, more like a sideways 'thump' through the chassis..

They've ended up keeping it into tomorrow as apparently it's a 5 hour job...

What was the outcome of this? Did the mounts get replaced and resolve it?

Was this sorted under Warranty it did you have to foot the bill?

Engine mounts were replaced under warranty. The cold-start jolt is gone and the car feels smoother than ever including all the stop-start stuff - it's a huge improvement. I'm glad I had it checked and that the dealer was able to replicate it.
