2011 530d, battery shows 12.2v after sitting overnight.

The battery is not that old really. Is it on its way out?

When you say not old, has it been replaced recently or something?

When my 2012 F10 battery started to age there were corresponding error/info codes in the computer, read via a ISTA or INPA.

If that's original 2011 it's well passed it. Easy job to change.

Edit or is that 4120 a date code for week 41/2020? In which case I'd put the car on a charger overnight, perhaps it's used for short trips ? Won't fully charge via alternator. Ctek5 or similar via the battery posts under the bonnet. 12.2v is low, should be around 12.5v for AgM iirc.

As Mike said; have you tried to give it a good trickle charge and see how it fairs?

Are you having any warnings on the dash when you start the car at all?

12.2v isn't low; ideally you want 12.4 upwards, its when it's below 12v you need to think about seeing what's what...

Has your car ever had the IBS changed? Is it going fully asleep when you lock it etc?

Last time I scanned it using the carista thing it did show up that something wasn't going to sleep.

Code was 801C15, central gateway.

Car is used for long journeys 200 miles monday and Friday. No warning lights, I will see how it goes. Thanks.

If the car is running fine then battery should be ok, you'll start to see signs of a failing battery like stop start not working, clock reset, rear heated screen not turning on, the car disables these features when the battery is weak.

Maybe, but some just refuse to start, having been OK for months before.
The examples you gave, stop/start not working, clock reset, rear heated screen may well be irrelevant to the users situation, and time of year.
