Just wondering how many e63 owners on here and if any meet up at all

Since these cars are getting on age wise and can be a pain to maintain would be interested to know

Since owning my one and commuting every day for the last two months I have only seen one other in the traffic with me!

Seem to be getting a rare site, certainly round South east any way

Me.. Had mine over 3 years now. Quite agree, I rarely ever see another..& generally it has been a pleasure to own & drive. Mine is having an issue right now with suspected blocked CCV.. It’s going to a BM Specialist tomorrow to confirm and have it’s annual service.

Hoping it is just the CCV/PCV irked

Still got mine . Bought summer of 2020 and was going to be my 400 miles a week commute. Covid came and it’s been parked up for ages. Had a new battery finally and some oil changes. The idrive screen has gone off now and I will get it fixed. Two parking sensors are also now throwing an error so it does need a bit of work. Had the smell of burning oil so took it to my brother who stripped everything off from the bottom, I made him some coffee , he put it all back together and it’s been ok since. He takes apart heavy plant for his job so found this easy, although all his tools were too big However, last MOT an oil leak but not excessive was reported, unsure if new oil or old misting from what my brother did. Still on the look out for a v8. But will probably need 6 or 7k to make the swap and that will be a daft move for me at the moment.

Great to see them all! My one is an LCI 630i, going in to get four out of the six injectors changed next week and still on the hunt for two more! (Very helpful forum member helped me source them)

More than happy with the six cylinder choice over the V8 for the daily commute, plus I haven't found it wanting for power at all really

Had the oil filter housing replaced as that was leaking bad along with a new ac condensor and bonnet badge (completely faded), once the injectors are done it will be a sorted car.

Always loved these and feel they have aged well and it's a nice feeling out and about knowing that your driving something that's a rare sight!

What sort of areas are you all based? I'm in kent

I was planning to do it myself but as the car was already booked in for its service it made sense to just get all of it done. Fingers crossed it’s just the valve

I’m south based, in Hertfordshire.

Nice cars fellas..

I have had thoughts a few times about selling and getting something different..but I honestly struggle to find anything that does what I need any better..

Bristol. Don’t see many here either. Although a few months ago I had a 650 follow my every move down the m4 for 20 miles. Gave me a wave as I left the motorway and slowed down to join a queue on the slip road and he passed in lane 2.

Totally agree, for the money and exclusivity of them. We'll let's keep this thread open. As the weather warms would be good to do a meet somewhere in the middle

Yes, daily mine (N52 630i) for work. I agree, quite an uncommon car, don't see many about, although there is a chap fairly local who drives an E64 (635d iirc).

I've used mine for baby and toddler duties with a baby/infant seat which was 'challenging'.

Since switching from RFT to regular MP4, ride is much improved. V comfortable car to drive. Interior build quality is very good. Pro HiFi option is fantastic and to me one of the stand out options. HUD is surprisingly good and you don't realise it until you drive another car without it and have to look down at the dials like a pleb. hehe

Issues so far: broken spring and a bad coil causing a misfire. Also issues with an airbag light which was a dirty/corroded connection under the seat. Otherwise it has been relatively trouble free.

Definitely looks a lot newer and more expensive than it actually is. Lots of compliments about it at work.

That's a nice colour combo, I have a booster seat and a car seat squeezed in to mine aswell lol

Seems stratos grey was more popular than first thought between us. My car is still on run flats, out of interest how did you deal with the lack of spare when you went over to normal tyres?

I have the sport gearbox on mine with the paddles and am thinking about getting the gearbox flashed soon, XHP gearbox flash is getting good reviews

biggrin Baby seats now in the 330i Touring and X5.

This has the updated 'Pearl Leather' option. Stratos Grey is a fantastic colour (when clean!).

Re RFT, I have one of those BMW 'mobility kits' (compressor + gunk) in the boot. Fortunately not needed to use it yet. Genuinely a very worthwhile consideration - ride comfort much improved and road noise reduced.

Sorry, can't comment on the gearbox situation.

I do wish the Sport mode had an option of just weighting up the steering without altering the gearbox map.

Not many of us about, but I have had my E63 for about 18 months or so. I think there is another similar in Lincoln, and a few other V8 models that I have spotted. It is my daily, although I don't actually use it much and we use the Alfa quite a bit more. Even then we don't tend to do too many miles.

Even rarer M6, can honestly say I don't think I have ever seen one on the road. How do you find the V10 as a daily? Serious bit of kit

Yes! Bought a 635d individual back in November as a daily. Plan on putting 20-30k per annum on it.

I had seat bolsters refurbed and new steering wheel. Also had apple car play installed and speedo lights changed to with red needles. Best thing is getting carplay (£250 inc install and steering wheel retrimmed (£200).

Before I got leather refurbed and steering wheel retrimmed.

It is a DIY job and few different versions at different price points. You can get some for £100-200 from like of Alibaba and fit yourself or professional audio places like CEN in nottingham but charge alot more. I got mine done by a local BMW coder in b’ham - https://instagram.com/bimzimacoding?utm_medium=cop...

Cheers, as a daily it does the job, but not really ideal with about 13mpg being normal. The engine is good otherwise, responsive and muscular enough for day to day driving. Some say it lacks torque (it doesn't), it just comes alive as the revs build.

The gearbox takes some getting used to, but is totally fine when you do learn it. The zf6 would be better commuting, but the SMG is great when really pushing it.

I'm fortunate enough to work from home almost all the time so most of the driving is weekend related. Had a good run down to Heathrow and back that I enjoyed though.

My e63 decided to throw an engine management light tonight, and pretty sure I drove home on 5 cylinders. Whole car was shaking and vibrating

It's booked in end of this week to get the injectors done, think it's killed the coil packs aswell now.

I have only sourced four injectors so far, hoping this will sort it with new coil packs until I can source the other two! (Misfires were identified on two cylinders)

Looks like I have to mix with the public and get something called a train for the next couple of days now frown
