E46 question please

Hi All, i`ve departed my usual TVR pages haunt to ask a question re the brake warning light on an E46 318
The light was coming on due to brake pads being worn which have been replaced although the light remains on. Is this a BMW scam that needs a specialist with tool to reset the system or a straight forward electrical fault with the wiring/pad wear sensor?

The wear sensor cable also needs to be changed and then it should re-set itself. Just check there's no other problems, like are the rears also worn out, is the reservoir full.

I also know of someone who can't seem to get the light out at the moment, but don't know what's been found.
