Z4 SMG Problems

Occasional glitches with my SMG - frequent enough to niggle, rare enough not to justify a day off road.
Anybody got any ideas (or has also experienced)
1. Using "paddles" in traffic changing from third to second and car getting stuck in "neutral" - no forward motion.
2. Changing down (again using paddles) from second to first and getting third.
Despite the above, I am very impressed by SMG, particularly in full-bore driving on French back roads, just wish it was the full house M3/M5 version!
