My 1998, E39 525TDS Tourer SE has a developed more nods than a nodding dog! I suppose at 157k the shocks haven't had a bad run but does anyone know what I should be paying for them?

I have been quoted £440 which, even allowing for them being gas, still seems quite a lot. I had a full set of adjustables put on the TVR for £500!

Is this about right or should I be looking elsewhere.

Any info gratefully received. Thanks.

£83.43 a corner from Euro Car Parts

Check out www.eurocarparts.com

£59.95 for the fronts from GSF. They don't quote the rears on their website

I just bought shocks all round for an E34 (shouldn't be too different) for 275 quid all in form GSF. Bless 'em, they were convinced I was a BMW car club memeber and gave me 10% off too. The amusing thing is that they're Sachs/Boge (i.e. ZF) - the same manufacturer that BMW use. They're half the price though.. .

Having them fitted on Wednesday - can't wait to find out how the car is supposed to handle, rather than how it handles with 151k on the clock...

Thanks for the info guys.

My local BMW approved independent has quoted £400+VAT fitted - Kwik Fit will fit a pair of Monroes (gas) for £220 which I don't think sounds too bad?

cheers again.
