Went see a great looking E38 740 Sport today with satNav and all the toys, 58k on the clock. Really nice car and I'm very tempted with it, at £12k it aint no bargain!

Worrying thing is it hasnt got a log book so the dealer cant verify the service history or milage.

I'm conscious that with 100k on it this car would be more like £8k so theres plenty of motivation to clock it.

Should I walk away?

Guess BMW will be able to validate servicing from new?

I would walk away. At 58K miles the owner should be proudly displaying it's full BMW service history. These things dont get lost unless someone wants them to.

These cars go for ever, so it would be very difficult for you to tell it's real mileage. I am sure you will find another.
