Handbrake level Removal - Help Please

Guys, I have a 2002 E46 BMW Saloon. I wish to change the standard leather hand brake handle for a AC Schintzer handle.

I cannot see how the leather handle comes off. Can any one help.

I am transforming the BMW into all A Schnitzer equipment including engine etc.
