Hi Guys,
Firstly Apologies if this has been asked before.
Currently due to upgrade the 320ci convertible to the New M3 Model (Convertible)
This will be a Main Dealer supplied Second Hand Car with 30,000 miles on the clock, one owner FSH (main dealer)3 years old.

Is there anything we need to look out for with regard to warranty work, call backs etc ?
We have driven the car and are impressed with its day to day abilities including performance but wondered if there are any pitfalls to ownership over the course of 2 years ?

Any advice would be great .
Thanks in advance.

Pete

Watch when Inspection 2 is due - can be £700 plus, other than that you're fairly well covered with the BMW warranty. There was an engine recall but I would imagine this will have been sorted.

Pete, make absolutely sure they have done the AUC check. There is now way on this planet that mine was given a check. I would suggest you have a look at bm3w.com and tyresmoke.net for some further advice.

AUC is the Approved Used Car check that every car MUST have.

If you don't think it's been done ask for the paperwork - they will have it somewhere. If they didn't do it you will have them over a barrell.

At 30k you shouldn't have any worries. An ispection 2 on that car will be at 60k.

The AUC is a pretty comprehensive check so you should be fine, check the tyres though - techs get lazy at when it comes to rubber. They allow 3mm as the bare minimum.

Hope that helps

inspection 2 is fairly age related too - our M roadster had it done at 23K (cos it was 4 years old!)

Wow! 3mm Thats lower than Maserati ! (4mm which was awful in my opinion !) Had to replace tyres to the 7mm tread ! inorder to receive decent road to Steering Wheel Feedback !

Thanks Scoobz.
Will be checking with dealer tomorrow !

Hmmm someone told you a porker there...all you need to do is follow the green lights when they are out get it serviced!! they do how-ever recomend an OIL service every 12 mths if you do a very low mileage!

no, t'was full BMW historied and green lights were out.

Hard driven M3's can need serving every 8k miles.

Also, as car had 3 previous owners BM delaers often service cars sooner than required which advances future services - IIRC they must service to sell as AUC if less than 3 greens are on.

Apology accepted!

Your right about the Three green lights for an AUC!

If the Ins II was done when you brought then it dosen't matter anyway as you didn't have to pay for it!!

To be honest you could get it serviced every day if you want tis your money!

nah, we bought it at 13K with oil service just done, I paid for In2 (sob! ) and it was about £700.

I only pay for services when needed just to keep the (almost essential) BMW warranty bods happy!

Not cheap to keep these M3 things!
