Having had my car back from the last dealer (5 month duration) I've got a few niggles.

The Climate control display sometimes works and then powers off. I'm hoping it's a loose connection? How do I remove the display to get at the connections?

I went to Godfrey Hall yesterday for a 2nd opinion on the hood. They were very helpful and believe they can sort it. It's booked in for an hour next week so they can estimate work / parts required. What do you think my chances are of claiming the cost of the work against the first dealership (£2.5k worth) that couldn't resolve the issue?

I had the climate display problem on my 328 Sport.

It needed a new unit, but it was covered under the Approved Used Car warranty.

Hope this helps.

The A/C display will more than likely be the display unit itself and if the 2nd dealer can fix the hood I would definitely go and get as much of your money back as possible.

Thanks both - I'll see about sourcing a display from www.fabdirect.com/

Godfrey Hall also commented on how the first dealer hadn't even bothered to lubricate parts of the frame and that it was quite stiff making the opening and closure very slow!

Just for future reference if anyone ever should need it:

Never very good at fine soldering but the climate control seems fixed (fingers crossed!).

Didn't change the capacitor on the board but added a bit more solder to it. As per:

I'm a total numpty when it comes to technical matters but I've made this repair to said unit on a 328 (after the first was replaced under warrenty a few years back).
Easy enough to do & has been working for the past three years - total cost about 20p for the capacitor, £10 for a soldering iron - cheap compared to £300-odd from the local dealer...

Well Godfrey Hall looked at my hood and it's a bit better but not quite right. It's going back next week.

Just like to say that this dealer is much better than the first one I dealt with who had the car over a 5 month span! So much more professional, helpful and not trying to charge as much as they can fleece me for.
