On Wednesday night I finally got my grubby mits on my 1999(V) E39 M5.

Its Silverstone Blue with black leather and a few basic exras - DSP stereo, tyre pressure monitor, sunroof, heated seats, CD changer and a 1985-tastic carphone. Most importantly its got transferrable BMW warranty.

It's got 95k miles on it but is as tight as a 30k miler I tried at BMW. All I can say is 'WOW' - what a total rocketship. As easy to drive as a 520, but with ferrari-esq performance if required! Sports/normal modes are like night and day - I had the traction light flicking on in 3rd last night - on a bone dry road!

So far it is returning around 21mpg commuting to work, but I expect it to go down this weekend Hey-ho.

Now all I need is an exhaust to wake the neighbours and I'll be the happiest bloke in Peterborough! Creditcard is whispering ... tubi... tubi...

Thanks!

I forgot to say that the seller kindly left his private plate on (not a great one, but not terrible), left a Bell550 laser detector wired in and also included a spare rear rim and tyre!

It also came with a file including every bill and correspondance letter since day 1 - even including original roadtest reports (top gear, CAR etc)!!!

Very chuffed so far!

I thought mine was quick when i got it last summer, but after a few months i had the MAFS replaced. Then it was REALLY quick!

Migt be worth getting them checked on a '99 car?

Thanks Stuh - any way I can check them myself or is it off to the stealers? Before I bought the car I had BMW read the ECU for any fault codes (and to verify the mileage) - would faulty sensors have shown up then?
