Has anyone got any ideas. When I bought the car with 66000 on the clock it was loosing oil through the filler cap and rocker cover. It has done 106000 and it’s no better. I suspect cylinder head gasket.
Those are not the symptoms of a blown head gasket.Try what ^^^^ he said.
As above; tell us which engine you have first, helps a lot! Also, it's not HGF!
Replace the CCV; source one from either BMW directly or via C3BMW on eBay
Get the Meyle kit and make sure it's for your engine
Sounds like you've got the M54 engine in yours; so you need to replace the rocker gasket, bolt rubber gaskets and the spark plug gaskets too. Again, Meyle or Febi Bilstein for these parts. Can be found on eBay easy enough and not expensive at all
Use RealOEM for your part numbers (use the drop down menus to select your car) and you'll see all the categories and diagrams/pictures thereafter
You'll need a good sealant too for the half-moons and corners; unless you're getting your mechanic to do it and I'm sure they'll already have it in
If you're still loosing oil and it's around the filter side, it'll be the oil filter housing gasket that's leaking. Pennies really, but a bit daffy to replace as it's alternator off job
