In response to Z4monster - I collected my brand new 3 litre Z4 in December, after owing an SLK 230 kompressor - what a stunning car in design, ext and int, the run flat tyres are a little hard and are taking quote a while to get used too, especially around the roads in Surrey..... I adore the engine, even though i haven't even gone over 4.5k revs yet. Cannot wait.............. to let her open up.

Make sure you locate the DSC button and switch it off. Much more fun without traction control on. Nice choice.

p.s. taken a while for you to post your first post! Have you been out driving the car all this time?

Get some more mileage on it and then you can really give it some rice. They are so super smooth right up to the red line. I gave one of the guys at work a go in mine last week and I think he's a convert from the TT he's currently got.

How are you finding the runflats. People on the Z4um are changing for standard tyres and a can of spray in the boot. Not sure what I will do when they need replacing.

My understanding is that Runflats are standard as they are on the Mini.
I've got normal tyres on mine because of the 19 inch Alpina wheels, with a mini-compressor and foam to repair a puncture temporarily. (Standard on Roadster S Lux)
I'm told by people who have driven both types of tyre that handling and ride are improved with the normal type.

How do you know if you've had a puncture?

If the tyre is flat the compressor plugs into the in-car socket which is then plugged into the foam and then onto the tyre valve.
It reinflates the tyre with foam and aledgedly allows the car to be driven to a place for tyre repair/replacement.
TVR operate a similar system with cans of compressed foam and I whipped these out of my Tuscan before I traded it in so as I have a backup, though it should be said that I'm not convinced I would trust either and a phone call to BMW Recovery would probably be my first option.
The Tyre Pressure monitor within the car is still there but I believe it to be inoperable on the Alpina.

The runflats were not an option when I bought the car even though I did upgrade to the 18" Ellipsoid spokes - but its so noisy when driving on the crappy roads around Surrey. I would look at changing when I need too.

Has anyone got the auto gear box - how do they find the sports mode?
