any knowledgeable PH's tell me how I demonstrate the function of this valve.

I have a funny with my car 2001 M5. If I lanuch it from standing in first gear I don't have a problem apart from an incredibly early first gear change and frantic attempt to make it look smooth.

I have found from a standing start its easier to let the car roll forward gently while in second and then let the clutch out to engage at trickle speed, and then when fully engaged floor it. I find this approach much more smooth and will beat every other car, and is possibly faster than starting in first knowing the speed a first to second has to be attempted at.

However putting too much accelerator while in second at a standing start causes the gear not to engage at all, the engine revs and it acts like the clutch has gone.

When the revs come down the clutch suddenly engages and your off.

All attempts at breaking the clutch to test it fail so I think the clutch is good.

I think thats it. Thanks, I can't believe that this isn't a regular mention on PH BMW page.

I'll remove it and see if its the problem. Although a little worrying that I'm driving the car hard enough to have to remove a 'so-called' safety device?
