Well, it was inevitable really, The 540 is in the classifieds, I suppose I shouldn't announce it on here but at least I put it in the classifieds

Saving for a house deposit - usual thing, more kids, more space required. Disposable income.....thirsty car...The porker stays, but the BMW has to go for something that does more than 19 mpg. I suppose wifey has a point.

Damn good car though, and when I find some money behind the sofa will definately go for another.
Mind you, it isn't sold yet

Not again, how many times in teh last 12 months have you changed the car .
A VAG sourced 1.9tdi type car, VW/seat/skoda/audi is what you want Mike if MPG is the issue. If you don't average over 50mpg even in a passat estate I'll eat my hat.

Harry, in all fairness, the 540 is not that bad on fuel, and would be staying if house purchases are not in the offing.
I don't really notice THAT much difference in fuel consumption to the 528i but something has to give. I will definately have another, and if it doesn't sell then I will keep it. It is fantastically capable, and to be blatantly honest, not that bad on fuel but if I keep the porker then sensible car beckons...My audi tdi was marvellous, but I definately recommend a 540. I will have another.
