I've got a Motorola V50 phone as a factory fitted option. The installation is fine, not perfect, but the phone itself is crap. Does anyone know if it is possible/easy to change the phone, even if I have to stay with Motorola and just change the snap in cradle.

Thanks

The car is great, not sure I really want the phone sorting, unless there is a mod that turns off sport mode when the phone rings!

Sorry. Can't change it. Phone does inded suck donkey balls. Not too bad if just using it in the car... Thought about a dual sim?

LMFAO!! Not that I have any experience with donkeys, but I kinda get what you mean...

Looking into the dual sim option at the moment.

PS: Still having fun across the pond?

That's the trouble, the phone in my car is a shit wired thing. I have two mobiles anyway, it would appear that I am going to have to carry three unless I can get a dual sim.

You can pay a fortune to change to bluetooth or do as I did when I had one in my last M3 and get a cheapo SIM for the V50 and divert your calls to it while you're in the car. The phone is crap, but it works well as a phone in the car if you have the nav system with the big screen.

BEWARE BMW BLUETOOTH PHONE KIT HAS VERY LIMITED PHONE COMPATABILITY. MOST PHONES THEY RECOMMEND ARE OBSOLETE SO BEWARE!!

you are correct about their list of recommended phones being obsolete - but there are a lot of phones which do work. I have just got a Motorola V3 and it works.

www.bmw.co.uk/bluetooth has the list
although other phones partially work (eg. the 6230 doesn't transfer the phonebook, but everything else works fine) - overall, the support could be better.

It's the phone manufacturers refusing to sell the updated spftware on to the likes of BMW. Thats the problem.
