Anyone had a remap of their 650i? If so, was it worth it?

NA engines are very, very rarely worth mapping. Unless you've done other work like an exhaust or cylinder heads I wouldn't bother.

Don't agree with that at all I'm afraid. I've had three NA cars remapped (M3x2, 911), and torque was noticeably increased in all, as was overtaking speed. Much better. The increase in bhp was small (5-7%). All three benefited from the remap. On a 5 litre engine it would most definitely be felt.

Whatever. Most NA maps only change the throttle actuation so you get full throttle at 50% pedal so you think its much better.

If you really got 20+ bhp at useable revs on a 911 good luck to you although I will agree that a full rolling road set up vs a chip in the post are very different things.

I am not sure where the assumptions have come from - maybe I missed something....

Is it a new 650i with the 4.4 Turbo? If so, there are some impressive gains to be had!

If the old 650i 4.8NA then the above thread is valid.....

Depends... Can be setup for 98+ Ron, more aggressive timing, raised rev limit, who knows what they can do with the air and fuel in terms of control. Most engines are setup for crap fuel and so I don't see why some gains can't be made, especially if working with trick intake systems like vanos and vtec

if its the twin turbo later model then huge gains to be had

n/a you'll still see gains just nowhere near the levels of a turbo'd car

My 55 plate 650i had a map. It ran very well previously and I gave it a full engine decoke first with two cans of terra-clean. Result was getting 32mpg on a run - never got more than 28 before and a noticeably quicker car. DMS did the remap on the standard car. The car pulled harder - noticeable in the first three gears and a much crisper response. Very glad I did.
The improved mpg was a bonus. DMS said these engines respond well to a map and it certainly has.

Hi. I’ve just bought a 2016 650i. It’s brilliant however I am considering a remap. Correct me if I’m wrong but the M6 is the same engine with stronger internals thus capable of handling the extra 100bhp. The Stage 1 remap on the 650i takes the BHP to the same (if not a bit more) than the M6. Can the internals handle it?
