Just got a 1998 540 with integrated car phone.

Having tried to activate it with my T-Mobile sim card I discover that it only operates with Cellnet (now O2?) and Vodaphone networks which my BMW dealer confirms and who cannot help further.

Does anyone know if the phone can be 'unlocked' for T-mobile service?

I'd imagine it is because o2 and vodafone use 900mhz, orange and t mobile use 1800mhz so the actual transmitter is different...
