Had to take my car to the dealers after just 3 weeks due to my airbag warning light being permanently on.
They told me that the passenger side airbag would need replacing.

Is this a common occurence?

I must add that the dealer - HR Owen Chiswick did take care of me. They washed the car and even arranged to get my new reg plate transferred. Saved me a trip to the DVLA and the price of the plates.

Thats interesting,

I picked my E46 M3 up last Wednesday from Crewe, and on the drive back home to Hertfordshire the airbag light came on and hasn't gone off again...!

Mine is a coupe, not that that should matter.

Its booked in to my local dealer next Tuesday to have the diagnostics done under warranty to see what the problem is - aparantly its most likely to be a dodgy connection under the passenger seat or the seatbelt pre tensioner/airbag sensor?

At least they "fail safe" - so the airbag won't go off in your face whilst driving along!!

Hope I don't have to have an airbag replaced.

Will keep you posted

"Common" fault with BM's in general. My e46 330d had that fault for a while, my mums 98 525 has it.

Had a call from the dealer this morning, The lovely Nicole has booked me in to have my Airbag replaced on Monday.

Also seem to have a problem with the drivers side headlight. If I put the lights on when not a totally flat surface, i.e.: my driveway is on an incline, the driver’s side light is reported as faulty.
So, I backup on to the road and it springs to life.
Not what I expected from a 50k car.

Anyway.... The sun is shining and everything is sweet now !
I've had my top down the last two days and a huge grin on my face regardless of the little niggles!
Another 500 miles and I can go over 5500 rpm !!
