E39 Paint Code Location

I have just bought a 2001 530i but can't find any mention of where the paint code is located on the car.

It is silver in case somebody knows what the code is likely to be, but I'd like to know where it is anyway.

Don't think it is mentioned physically on the car - suggest check owners doccy or local BMW dealers with Reg no.

Mine is some shade of silver, officially, but I call it "accountant's grey". Waft-tastic.

It's on the top of the suspension "mound" uner the bonnet. Stamped into the metal.

Or its on the VIN plate.

I think.

I found it on a sticker located on the inside of the n/s/f wing adjacent to the suspension turret.
