1999 E36 (2 door).

The clutch only creaks if the heater is directed at the floor and it gets warm, I have sprayed all that I can see with oil but no joy.

The drivers door has an annoying rattle that is worse when the car is cold and appears to go away when the window is open.

Are these common problems, any advice on a cure or possible fault with either of these?

TIA

check out This link... the first problem listed is that of a creaky clutch!

FWIW, I get the same problem on my 99 cab which so far has been resolved by turning the stereo up!

Thanks Wiggy, that was a very informative link you posted and there are good diagrams.

I think I'll initially remove the cover around the pedals and try and lube up the assembly, it's worth a try eh!

Regarding the window/door rattle, I sprayed it all with WD40 last night and got the window running more freely and then cleaned this off and used a silicone lube spray, I also gently tapped the rubbers and the door panel to ensure all was fitting tightly and I lubed the door striker plate and catch whilst I was at it and all is now fine, no rattle or creak

I also had a bang from teh driver door hinge each time I opened it and I lubed this with the silicone spray and the door opens silently as it should.

My BMW has a FMDSH and I am a little frustrated that they appear to have neglected these important things.
What else have they not bothered to do on a service?

Anyway, all is OK now.

Thanks again!
