Morning,

I need to fit some new rubber to my M Coop this weekend and was hoping you could offer some advice as to what to fit.

The favoured models seem to be Michelin Pilots, Pirellis, Bridgestone SO3s, Toyo Proxes or Eagle F1s.

I'm intrigued by the Proxes as I've never really heard of them before but it seems they are well regarded.

Any advice gratefully received

I put Eagle F1's on my breadvan, and was very impressed with the grip, they were much better than the dunlop's they replaced.

I've probably got some phone numbers somwhere for cheap places to buy....

Bracknell Tyre & Battery or Martin's Tyres (Bisley) are probably the cheapest place you'll find locally

Event Mobile Tyres: 0870 240 7787 Very good service and price. approx £150 per corner IIRC.

I've used that, and Black Circles. Not sure if you're close enough to that Mitcham tyre place. They keep getting recommended. somewhere in Hampshire.

If price is important then the 2 I mentioned are local(ish) and probably cheaper - they are for me but I don't have large or wide tyres. Event and Blackcircles were at least 15% dearer.

Bracknell Tyres and Micheldever (just North of Winchester) were best...blackcircles etc nowhere near as good on price.

Paid about £440 for all 4 (Pirelli P Zero Rosso) which have been very good.

Having said that Micheldever did scratch a wheel ever so slightly, despite being an Official Pirelli Performance Centre...or something like that...but have found them good in the past (but very very busy, get there early)

you cannot beat Micheldever for price i think. i have Toyo T1-R Proxies on my Civic Type-r and thay stick like glue, especially in the wet, compared to the standard Bridgestones. much cheaper too, and a slightly softer compound for less noise and a better ride.
