I treated the car back in July to a Diamondbrite coating and it looked superb.

Today I noticed it's gathered some fine scratches and swirlmarks. Just wondering what product you have used to get rid of them so I can have a nice gleaming techno violet colour!

Thanks.

HARLEY DAVIDSON DO A ANTI SWIRL POLISH THATS REALLY EFFECTIVE,FAILING THAT T-CUT THE OFFENDING AREA THEN APPLY A GOOD POLYMER RESIN POLISH ,HEY PRESTO! NEXT TIME YOU WASH YOUR CAR WET THE VEHICLE FIRST THIS PREVENTS SCRATCHING WHEN YOU SPONGE IT DOWN,USE A DEDICATED SPONGE FOR THE TOP OF THE CAR AND ANOTHER ONE FOR THE BOTTOM.

I had mine removed by www.miracledetail.co.uk - some piccies here http://gallery.kaptur.net/view_album.php?set_albumName=Zymol

It is quite amazing to see this in action - apparantely new BMWs are notorious for being full of swirls.

I was going to mention Meguiars too. It's to be expected since they're in direct competition, but the Meguiars man was extremely critical of T-cut. Meguiars have what they call a 'diminishing abrasive' which seems ideal for this sort of problem. They also showed using a 'random orbital buffer' which would probably help polish out existing defects without introducing new ones. One tip they gave to avoid this sort of problem was not to wipe in circles when cleaning and polishing.

One way to achieve this is not to clean or polish.

Thanks all for your input. It was actually that gallery that got me thinking!! Superb results.

I think I'll have a go myself and the Meguiars seems to be popular.

Meguiars Scratch-X for scratches - NOT swirl marks.

3M Swirl Mark Remover would be my first choice.

But the 3-phase systems from Meguiars, Mothers etc etc will 'reduce/mask' the swirl marks.

Have to admit once it is fully clean and dry the Colour Magic stuff from Halfords does the job !!

Mind you as the car is black it's a pretty easy colour Match.

After the garage cleaned it after it's service last week it looked pretty scratched up !!

I once read a great article about how to clean your car.

The best way to stop swirl marks is to polish in straight lines, up and down instead of polishing in circles. This way the light only catches the lines/marks in one direction, whereas circles catches the light from all angles and looks a bit of a mess.
