Led displays......Computer display on E39's

The display I am refering to is the display / computer etc in the instrument pod. Sometimes it works, sometimes it goes berserk.

Today, I have a few random dots everywhere and tomorrow it may show everything..but then it may not..Is there a quick way of dealing with this or is the only way ahead a new instrument binnacle? It's a pain in the ar5e at the moment as I am trying to see just how many miles I can squeeze out of a full tank.

The trip computer is showing :.*4 which is helpful.
