I've searched the forum but not found what I'm looking for... Can anyone help.?

I've got a fat mans family 2002 530 Sport, it came with the factory fitted car kit with a 'wired' Motorola clam phone, the kit is excellent but the phone is crap. According to BMW the car isn't Bluetooth prep'd and will cost £2000+ to have Bluetoothed by BMW.

Are there any other 'reasonably' priced alternatives that don't involve SIM swapping between phones.. i.e.

Can the current wired kit be converted for use with other phones, i.e Sony Ericsson K700i. The kit doesn't fit/work with any new Motorola phone.

Are there any decent 3rd party Bluetooth kits that integrate with the BMW setup?

Or is the only choice to get a completely new Bluetooth kit fitted that doesn't integrate with the existing setup.. Are they any good.? Any recommendations.?

Do any of the above alternatives cause issues with the BMW warranty.

Thanks.

Paul.

The V50 is an old phone and therefore is shite compared to newer phones, you can not change it to fit another phone either.

You could retro fit bluetooth for hunred or so pounds but you will loose the use of the steering wheel buttons.

don't bother with the BMW bluetooth kit as it is not worth the money needed to instal it!!

If I were you I'd keep the V50 in the car and get Vodafone Multisim so you can do away with sim swapping but retain all the BMW features. It's about £5 per month on top of a std contract rate.
