hello all

im looking for some advice on a problem im having. my car is an 1989 535 e34, 118.000 miles and going strong.

it runs fine and is smooth on tickover, however as soon as i put the car into gear - either drive or reverse (its an auto) the engine revs die down, and then pick up to where they are supposed to be. whilst the car doesnt stall/cut out it feels as tho it will sooner or later as im sure its getting worse.

when on the move it changes gear perfectly, up and down. any clues?

cheers

clean out the throttle housing and butterfly flap , and clean out the idle valve with some carb cleaner at that mileage they are probaly well caked up by now
If this fails get the fault code read
And also check the kick down cable is adjusted too tight hold it in gear at idle ??
