Brake pad warning light reset

Leading on from my earlier topic, I had my front discs and pads and rear pads replaced by my mechanic (£214 for Greenstuff parts and £40 labour compared to BMW dealer wanting £440). I'm bedding in the pads now but the yellow brake pad warning light is still on. My mechanic chnaged the sensor but says he can't reset the warning light.

Does anyone know who I can get to do this around Borehamwood, Herts area? I guess they just plug in something and hit reset??

I did the same but using BM parts and with new sensors (front and rear) the light went out on its own. This was an E46 320d

(328i&540)If the pads wear down to the point where the light comes on, it means the sensor will need changing too. Unlike other cars, where the wire is part of the pad and gets replaced with the pad - bm chose to have a wire that has to be replaced as well My local motor factor had them for about 10-15 quid.

My light stayed on recently after replacing the pads and sensor, googled around a bit and you do something like turning the ignition untill all the lights come on and leaving there for about a minute, which resets it.

the light will go off itself once he's replaced the sensor, about 2-3hours later in my case, or maybe its a certain no. of car starts or whatever, if he hasnt replaced the sensors try the scientifically proven method of joining both wires on a used sensor for the time being

Cheers for that. Ilooked around on the net and found that if you turn the ignition on but not the engine and leave for a minimum of 15 mins, it resets. I actually left it for about 45 mins, turned it off then turned it on and BINGO! Its fine.

All you do is switch the ingnition on for approx 30-45 seconds do not start engine,switch off then start up thats it,
you can leave the old sensors in to makes no diff to re set,
