Here is an unusual one.
My 530d Touring has developed the habit of opening all the windows, all on it’s own after it has been parked and locked. I think it happens after locking the whole car then opening the tailgate and relocking it again, but not every time. Then, after a short time all the windows open. Any Ideas ? The local dealer wants to book it in “for some tests” but as it took them seven attempts with the last electrical fault……

I have an M3 and I know the key can be activated when in my pocket. So I can open the doors and windows when I sit down in the house without knowing I've done it.

Mine did this. I got the BMW dealer to fix it, and I got change from 40 quid, and a cleaned car.

Refuse all offers of "tests", since they are open ended and could take forever.

Just demand that the keyfob function to open the windows is switched off, via the on board computer. If your problem is the same as mine, job done.

BTW, BMW need to re-work their key-fob so they don't go off in the owner's pocket/handbag etc. Anyone seen a keyfob on the new 5 series ?

I think VW have a simpler and better keyfob where it has a locking mechanism to prevent unwanted activation.

Sound's like I may need to read the manual then, I knew I could close the windows but not that I could open them.

Press and hold the open button, they all open.

Press and hold the lock button, they all close.

Voila.

Scooby-Shame Viola doesn't work will all series functionality

Hey this will make you laugh. I had the M into the garage for a photo shoot 3 weeks ago and one of the service managers told me they had seen the old 7 lurking about. Sure enough it's still breaking control units at a rapid pace. Poor b*stard who owns that lemon. Hope he extends his warranty
