Am struggling to get a manual gearbox off my 850i

Why oh why did they put small torx head bolts on the bell housing!!!!

One wrong turn and the head strips leaving you with the wolds largest pop rivet to remove.

Only two bolts left holding the gearbox on and they are the two bolts at the top of the gearbox. The manual says use a 50cm long driver with a UJ at both ends!! Now I understand why the bolts were stripped.

Manual says the engine won't come out with the gearbox. Anyone ever changed their own clutch on a decent sized beener and got any suggestions/sympathy?

Perhapps get a GOOD quality smaller sized 6 sided socket and hammer it on over the rounded head. (I just done this with a torx style crankshaft bolt using an air impact gun)

Also, if possible, try hitting the head of each bolt hard first, this sometimes dislodges them a bit.
