Just got back yesterday from a few days away in a cottage in the middle of nowhere in north Wales. Thought i'd post a couple of pics of the bimmer.

A total of just under 600 miles, from Surrey up to Llangooglebangdat - 22 mpg and an average speed of 49 mph. Car didn't miss a beat - some hooning around those great Welsh roads and a fantastically steep track to our cottage which meant lots of wheelspin and inertia was the only way to get up!

I'm currently trying to think of as many good reasons as possible to not do the inevitable and buy one of these when a good blue one can be got for <£20k. Seeing these piccies is not helping.....

Very, very nice! What colour is that? Estoril or Le Mans?

It is Avus Blue! I think only available on the earlier cars. Estoril is a lovely colour though.

Here's another picture - took about 20 of these before I got the colours right. Even now it doesn't actually do the real colour justice - it was much brighter and colourful against the background. I need that DSLR now!

I've just realised where you work, which could explain why I've seen your car!

Oo-er. My wife drives it a lot you know ..

The last time someone told me that they'd spotted me driving around it was when my wife shot past about 4 cars doing some kind of nutter overtaking manoeuvre. Apparently she'd been tailgating him for the last mile or so. Her defence was that the closer she got, the more chance she'd be able to 'do' all the cars in one go!

Well, if I see it again, I'll give it a flash..

If your wife says 'I got flashed today by a maniac in a blue Subaru...' It was probably me!

Wheelspin, naughty turning the traction off. Shame on you

Actually I left it on - wasn't quite sure about it, but I was thinking: how stiff is the diff on the M5? If it's stiff, then great - i'll just wheelspin my way up there. But if it's quite relaxed I might just end up spinning away all the power. So I left it on and let it sort out the spinning wheel - seemed to work well! The DSC is a wonderful thing - amazing how much grip it finds. But I chucked the car round a greasy corner once and discovered what happens when the DSC can't help you - it's really quite frightening - gives you a real feel of the sheer weight of the car.

You can only get new M5's in mauve, brown or white, or so i've heard ..

Le Mans is close to Avus, but a little "flatter".

As fot the new one, I'm going for beige with mauve and white bonnet stripes.

Anyone care to guess what CAP valued the car at last month. And and what an average of 3 trade buyers offered?

M5 to Wales? No, it's the M4 that goes to Wales.

Give me the good news.... (and why are you selling?)

Getting back to the question, due to the mileage I'd guess you are being offered around the £15k mark by the trade. I think a PHer sold one for £17k 2 months ago.
