I have a smg myself but have never driven a manual version and was wondering how they compare i.e. does it make any difference 0 - 60 ??

Yes its good, slated by many! You build the time delay (comparitively slow against SMG II) into your driving. It will still be quicker than most manual stick changes. I loved mine for its versatility in a touring sense. 2880 miles around Europe in 2002 were most memorable and without hiccup.

The six speen manual box in the evo is not the best in the world, bit notchy for my liking.

The non evo five speeder is much better.

I've driven an SMG as well and loved it!

Speaking from a Dealership point of view. NO IT'S NOT!

Do not buy one, more trouble than they are worth. Yes they can be driven successfully if you try hard enough, but unreliablility will soon P*** you off. Buy a manual or save up 25K and buy an E46 SMGII which is absolutely superb.
