I have an E46 cd with xenon headlights. When I turn them on they do the auto level thing and then show a nice blue light on things making a great job of showing the way ahead. Until I get onto a hilly road (there are a couple in Cambridgeshire) at this point the light pattern seems to get shorter. I wonder if this is a figment of my imagination or it is actually doing it.

Anyone clarify?

AFAIK, all Xenons have to be self-levelling by law?

I know that, and they certianly do when I turn them on, I just have a feeling they are not doing it after it has been up and down a few hills.

Mine had a bit of a dicky fit the other day, for about ten minutes while I was doing stop-start driving ina queue at about 10 mph, every time I touched the brake pedal the headlights decided to try an light up the sky.

Very odd behaviour.
