I am looking to buy either a 328 or 330 coupe at the moment for my wife and have 2 cars in mind :

The first is a 99v 80k mile 328ci very high spec coupe, auto in silver with black leather full history and every extra (HK stereo, 18 inch wheels glass roof etc..) apart from sat nav price circa £10.5k.

The other is a 2000 x 330ci in silver 33k miles one owner, auto, sat nav, tv and just about everything else except the interior is totally cloth, and it has wood trim and 17 inch wheels. The car has 9 months warranty and would be circa £15k.

If you were spending your cash which would you buy? would the lack of leather put you off?

thanks for your help in advance

(if anybody on here is looking to sell a 328/330 at the moment get in touch!)

I'd buy my wife a nice Renault Clio (French, cheeky, safe front-wheel drive) and spend the rest of the cash on upgrades for my car and trackdays, and win points all round.

Unless your wife is an oversteer hoon (wish mine was) do you really want her in a 2.8l or 3.0l rear-wheel drive car???

I'd go for the second one. 18" tyres will be more expensive.

And you don't need to be an oversteer fan to not drive a shit car.

I used to have the 328i fab car. I'd ask how many miles is she going to do? If its low iesub 10k pa then look at the 328. If its average or above go the 330 because of the miles. If the cloth/leather thing is an issue you can always get it trimmed for about a grand I believe through a specialist and when it comes to selling it it will have depreciated further and the difference will be minimal. Both are great!

Have fun in your choice.

The 330 as it is a far better engine and in comparison an absolute bargain... £15K inc Sat Nav??

I don't think his wife will have a problem with any rear drive BMW...... especially as she also drives his Ultima.

Thanks for the replys, I have bought the 330ci, collect it on monday. Well pleased with it, main dealer supplied silver, cruise, parksensors, 6 stack cd, business hifi, sat nav, tv, heated seats, auto, centre arm rest, everything really apart from leather got a good deal, new tyres, years mot, warranty, tax etc looks like new, 34k miles and all for just over £15k well happy!

The one thing it is missing is a leather interior, can anyone recommend a trimming company close to Herts that could fit a leather interior?

Andy I reckon you are right mate ,)

I bought it from a main dealer, all things being considered I think I got a pretty good deal.

Been looking around at secondhand interiors, but reckon a retrim wouldnt cost much more (circa £750) would prob look just as good, and I would get some warranty with the work.

I had my TVR re-trimmed by a guy in Wales... whilst I was looking for trimmers (I live in Hampshire), I found quite a few. im not sure which links Ted had put in the Oily Pages, but give those a try.

Incidently, the reason for me travelling was cost .... 2 seats, and full carpets cost me £800 in Berkshire, I was quoted £1200
