Was the back bench on the saloon fixed or did they fold down to create a bigger boot.

Since its supposed to be my sensible car, guess I need it to have a sensible boot for DIY etc. and I've not seen that many Touring models around at the price and spec I want.

How old are you talking e12 (pre-1984), e28(1984-1988), e34 (1987-1996), e39 (1996-2003)?

As far as I know, it was an optional extra - so some will be with and some without!

My E34 has a fixed back seat but the boot is a fair size

Early E39 is my target.

Jeez - these model designations are almost as confusing as the 911 product line

On the e39 it was an option. We have this on our 528 e39
