Sensible Hack

As I've decided I need a four dour, five seater car for family and business runs, after starting thinking BMW, looking around, taking test drives, trying to be sensible etc. I've come back to BMW as it has to be RWD fun and not fall apart or get laughed at

I'm looking at a five series for the size, and as I'd be doing some reasonable miles fancy a decent sized straight 6 (I want a V8 but have got to try and be sensible...), budget wise its going to be sub £7k...

I've seen a number of 523 and 528 with about 60k miles on a '96 P plate, including this one which looks perfect except for not having leather seats - which I could live without.

Does anyone drive anything similar, are they OK and is there anything to look out for?

Nikasil - do a google search for BMW and Nikasil and you'll turn up a wealth of information. Pre-1998 6 and 8 cyl. cars are at risk, and this is usually factored into prices these days.

never sent me mail when I was looking at 5's left to fend to myself . AFAIK the nicasil(nicosil) issue with the M52 engines went up to mar 98 production.............however there are some exceptions . AS already said do a search of here and the web you should find enough info there.
