Hi - Have recently bought a Yr2000 523 which I'm well pleased with. Have seen a few adverts for the phillips vision bulbs for these, which claim to offer up to 50% more light.

Just wondered if anyone has tried them at all. I do think there is room to improve on the standard dipped beam, although main bean seems fine.

I have them in my six and they have made a big difference. They were delivered in 24 hours and took me almost that long to fit them seeing that my bulbs had not been changed in 10 years and had seased on.

I fitted them on dip beam and there isn't a huge difference. Of course the dip beam pattern is well controlled/defined anyway so you can't see any further but perhaps the ground looks a little brighter.
Got mine from
www.performancebulbs.co.uk
(their prices include postage).

They do make a difference. Check which type of bulb your car has apparently the E39 has a number of diffrent fitments.

a good set of xenons do help, whiter light etc. If you are after some really good lights, get a HID kit... will set you back about £400 - £600 but the difference is amazing.

not sure what size you need for a 5 series, my 3 takes 4 x H7 tho.

[edited to add - found this for HID, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72235&item=7937964403&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW I havnt used a HID kit tho, and its a fair wack... may be safer buying from a shop. £225 seams a little cheap? ]
