BMW satnav CDs

On 'Going over' the new car I notice the satnav CD is a 2001.

Anyone know what BMW charges for an up to date one covering the UK, or is there a healthy second hand market in these?

BMW charge about £120 for CD's and £200 for DVD.

Usually a couple on ebay.

I'm afraid that moneys more likely to go in my fuel tank.

On the net there are lots of references to v24 of the software.

Anyone know how you can tell if you have a Mk1,2 or 3 system and whether the upgrade is worth downloading?

Okay, one afternoon, I've now loaded up a 2004 UK nav disc and for good measure upgraded myself to the version 24 of the computer software.

Seems much faster on the new firmware, the menus are better laid out and it seems more intuitive. The TV just shows a giant BMW logo on switchon which I think is rather cool.

Have found a few interesting hidden menus in the system.

Surely the internet is mans greatest creation. I just wonder how much I would have been charged at the local dealer to go and have that lot done?

i have a 2003-2 cd with TMC enabled if you're interested? I was gonna stick it on ebay, but if you want first refusal?

Thanks smartie, but I now have a July 2004 CD with TMC enabled, as per my previous post. The fruit of my searching on the internet today.

Found it on a private website called easynews.com. Although a lot of people on bimmer sites seem to indicate they'd be happy to help if you happend up in their neck of the woods.

I get the feeling that in these bimmer clubs, one person buys it and the others simply copy.
