does anyone think that the x5 is worth the extra cash over the x3, are the residuals better?

Yes. X5 is a better bet than the X3.

The X3 is way too expensive, far too close to the X5 in price.

X5 is still on a long waiting list new, while most dealers can get you an X3 quite easily ( my local dealer has 2 X3's available from stock immediately ) so that should tell you something...

If you find the extra, get the X5.

Drive both then make your mind up.

Can't speak about residuals, but you'll get no joy in negotiating for a 5.

BTW, X3 registrations fast catching up too and only launched in June.
