First time ever, Car refused to start today.

everything worked, just clicking instead of Vrooooom.

Jump Started fine, drove off for 30 mins, assumed I had left a door open slightly and missed the alarm warning.

Parked up, Off.. On. starts fine. great.

Drive off to shopping.

Come out 90 mins later, Dead again.

Given the speed of discharge, and lack of alarm warning (checked all lights out etc) I think the battery must be on its way..

It looks to be OEM, and car is 6 yrs old.. so.

Whats the best unit to replace with...

Do I call my local main stealers? or do halfrauds have an equally useful example?

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks

J

Jamie,
The only decent one to replace it with is a silver Bosch battery.
Available from Euro car parts, about £70 ish.....

I had very similar symptoms...

If your car is under the extended BMW warranty then the battery is covered. BMW recovery will even come out to you and fit it.

they do that.
fine one day. knackered the next. at about 6 years old.

the bloke from bmw recovery said it was a 'blown cell'
indeed, i'm sure it was.
new battery in the boot. where the spare wheel should be, good for another 6 years.

I actually have a BMW battery, new, unsused (will need a charge) over in Ruislip if you want to come and collect it for free!

My BMW mate gave it to me and I don't need it!

Could probably get it to W11 if that helps!

Your BM warranty covers the battery if you have one.

Mine died like that (2000 - e39), BMW assist came out and changed it under warranty. Only the airbag light stayed on and wouldn't reset.

Evidently jumpstarting it can knacker these modules, luckily that was done under warranty too!
