I think it was autocar who suggested that the next series 3 (E90?) would include a 330 turbo.

Anyone know any more, if it is true then surely it is closing the gap on the M3?

I read the same story, and I reckon a 330Ti will be one hell of a car. BMW petrol engines have always been revvy rather than really torquey, but with a turbo you should get max torque from much lower revs. And it should be easily tuneable too...

I think this would be a shame, and a breaking of tradition.

BMW have so far (with the exeption of the 2002 turbo and the diesels) resisted the 'easy' way for power, favouring good engine design for performance.

Next they'll be making front wheel drive hatchbacks

Edit: Oh hang on they do already

I'm reliably informed that the new shape M3 will be with us in September 2007 with a 400bhp lump up front... Bring it on!

How reliable is your information?

I understood my new M3 would be in my garage in 2006?

I don't believe for a moment that BMW will make a petrol turbo. It goes against the M GmbH philosophy. A twin turbo 3 litre diesel on the other hand....

All we know its a V8 and roughly 4litres... And being as we set the precedent at over 100 bhp per litre for M power cars...

do the math...

I am sure the original articles stated 2006 for the new M3, I'm not sure my 330 will last until 2007!

Anyone want to buy a 330 with 160,000 miles in 2007?

I know there use to be a guy post on here, about putting a supercharger on a 330. I think the company was Linden.
