I just had an inspection I and 2 rear shoes for my e46 on the 19"s...

Total cost of Inspection = £1250

Contribution of 2 Tyres = £600

So a Grand for all 4 is about right as the front two are thinner

Do not buy the tyres from a BMW main dealer - they mark them up handsomely !

Shop around, I'll be surprised if he does'nt find them for 10-15% less in my experience.

Got a friend with a tyre shop in Finchley, usually 2/3 price of most dealers, he will give you a good price if you're interested. Asked him for a cost tonight, will know in the morning.

Any decent independent performance tyre retailer should be able to beat a grand.....

A smack around the head for you! There are hundreds of us at www.bm3w.co.uk who spend an unhealthy amount of time talking about tyres.

You can generally get a set of PS2s for about £850. Contis (yuk! - my CSL came with a set on the normal M3 wheels (CSL wheels have Cups)) and Pirellis should be cheaper, but I like the PS2s. Then again, if it took your mate two years to need a new set, I can't imagine he'd notice any difference if there were a different tyre on each wheel.
