8 series advice please
Discussion
I've heard that they're very hard on consumables - brakes, suspension, etc.
I used to be on very good terms with my local BMW service manager (had to be with a high miles E38 730i), and they used to gouge around a grand per service out of 8 series owners.
I'd love one, and they're phenomenal value second hand, but the potential running costs scare the crap out of me.

I've driven all 8' BMWs, and IMHO the 840Ci (late 4.4litre) with 6speed box is best value; however 5sp. auto box is well developed.
There is a brilliant web-site about all 8' BMWs:
www.bmw850.de/
The site has everything from what I expect from complete information

Got a 6 series at the moment, thinking of getting one myself, But! my friend runs a 840 and says that the cost of parts even concern him and he worked for BMW.
But if you can get a low miler with FBMWSH they are fantastic value for money. just remember what it cost when new, and its not quite so bad.
good luck mate.
