E36 differentials

I was wondering if anybody knows if diff's can be swapped betwen cars ? I know the 318 has a smaller diff than the 325TDS but is the M3 diff interchangeable with the larger 328/325TDS diff's ?

There are problems with this in terms of compatibility with prop shafts IIRC, e.g. physical length etc., sorry not sure about the example you quoted. I did a swap to put a LSD on a E36 car a long time ago and remember there were difficulties, but we managed it anyway. So, guess most things can be done if there's a will, a way, and you're prepared to pay.

AFAIK, the M3 has a differnt subframe and mount to the 325/328 but the subframe will bolt on. SO you need to buy the lot.
