Morning all,

I've had the current car for a couple of months now, and from time to time it's a real pain to get the car into first gear (at the lights, for example).

Do they all do that, or is it a sign that something's going to need replacing soon? It's coverd 50k miles, and is six years old if that helps the diagnosis.

I'm hoping it's not a sign that the clutch is on the way out! (Although I believe it's covered by my RAC warranty, but only to a cost of £500).

My e30 does this occasionally, esp when cold. I just disengage then reengage the clutch and it goes in fine.

p.s. 166k!

I get it occasionally. B10 with 129k

I wouldn't worry. All BM's suffer it from time to time.

£500 will easily cover a clutch change on that anyway. You could put an M3 flywheel when you do replace it.

My 328i has this problem too, but seems if you hold the clutch down for a second or two it'll go in fine. It just doesnt like being put in quickly.

Oh, ok - thanks guys. Sounds like they all do it, so I won't let myself worry about it!

Cheers,

Dan
