Ive been looking around for insurance and its ranged from £750 up to £2600.
Not bad for a middle aged class one Police driver with a secure garage - not!

Sadly..Tesco Ins wouldnt quote without a reg number.

Have you tried Liverpool Victoria? They were far cheaper than the rest for my M3, and they will quote without a registration number!

My concern about being insured with a lesser known company was their efficiency when it came to dealing with a claim. Having searched a couple of other forums I found several people praising their great customer service. So I've taken the plunge and given them my money.

Direct Line would not even give me a quote on an M3!

My last 2 cars have been insured with Tescos using the VIN number......they just said I would have to let them know the reg number as soon as I could so they can update their records.

Same here!

After L&V the next cheapest was Privilege. I have a spreadsheet with websites/phone numbers of all the insurers I tried, along with the price/excess and other frills they do/do not include.
If you want a copy drop me and email and I send it straight over.

Off topic I know, but I was reading an article in the Daily Express on Wednesday, where it stated that the fund on a LV pension taken out 25 years ago were around £30,000 more than a comparable one with Scottish widows, so they appear to be a good reliable "friendly society" company....

It pi55es me off how inconsistant insurance companies are.

Direct Line quoted me a reasonable figure £1,100
Norwich Union wouldn't touch them but seeing I'm a current customer did me a big favour and quoted a bit more
A broker quoted £3k (underwritten by Norwich Union)

Insuring M3's has always been a problem.

And considering what you do to the 'company BMW's'....

Do you have to tell insurance companys about accidents while on duty?

Tony, if you want to get a quote from Tesco, email me if you want to use my reg no. They are very reasonable in my case, although they won't cover trackdays.

Actually, can't you just use a "work" PC to get a suitable reg no anyway? One you saw 'driving suspiciously' perhaps
