Creaky door seals on 2001 5 series

Hello.
The door seals on all four passenger doors on my 530 creak and groan annoyingly at low speeds. The effect can be reproduced from outside by pushing on the top of the door frame. I think it is where the previous owner used a silicone polish and it has go onto the rubbers. Local dealer said they could apply a “ special fluid” from BMW to resolve the problem but want the car in to do it. I tried a good dose of a silicon based polish on the rubbers which cured it for a couple of weeks, but now it is back twice as bad. Any suggestions gratefully received.

i own a 2004 model 5 series and that still has same squeaky doors. however i am happy to report my bmw dealer fixed it.
silicone is the "evil" one here. the fix is a two stage process, first the dealer needs to apply "BMW silicone remover" around the door edges/seals then apply a product called carbaflo on the same edges/seals. on the new E60 five series this is applied on the "flock cloth" area surrounding the top of the doors. the carbaflo polymer is totally durable and will not wash off.
I know you have the E39 5-series model and i think the old fix used to be to apply the BMW Gummifledge prodcut to the door rubber but I would be inclined to ask them to try this treatment and see if it works on the model you own.
If you want to try the job yourself the parts can be ordered for about £30 total from any bmw dealer, part numbers are:
83 23 0 309 627 Carbaflo lubricant
83 19 9 407 906 BMW Silicone Remover
like i said this fix has worked for me on the new 5'er (E60) so might work on the E39...worth a try?

SITUATION
Some customers may complain that they hear squeaking noises coming from the doorframe area while driving.
CAUSE
The movement between the mating surface of the flock covered (felt-like material) door seal and the outer roof panel produces a squeaking noise.
PROCEDURE
Clean the mating surfaces of the door seal (flock covered area) on all four doors with BMW Silicone Remover and let dry.
Then apply Carbaflo to the flock covering on all four door seals. No further treatment is necessary after this application (such as drying, polishing the roof, etc.).

I take it your car is out of warranty? If it isn't you can get it sorted by your dealer FOC.
Failing that, you need to clean the door rubbers and the car itself with an Anti-Silicone cleaner, white spirit will do but BMW sell a rather nifty tube albeit with a nifty price.
Then apply the super anti squeek cream stuff BMW are talking about (bought from the parts department) its about £30 a tube, but it does work a treat. Stick it on both door and car. It is kind of a known issue..
Failing that turn the radio up.

go get 'emthey should do it under warranty and it should be a "while u wait" job. took my dealer 20 minutes todo.
just print out this thread so you've got the part numbers / fix description handy and get along to the dealer.
i think they might go for the old gummiflegde fix but if i remember correctly this stuff wears off after a while. the carbaflo product is permanent.
