530 Rain and Light sensor reset

Hello, I normally reside on the TVR pages but now have a Beemer question. Having had a windscreen in my late 2001 530d, the rain and auto headlight sensor has stopped working. Apparently if it is unplugged it has to be reset by a main dealer. Windscreen company don’t have the ability and frankly don’t care. Main dealer want the car for half a day and most of the contents of my wallet. Anybody know the simple secret ? On most cars things reset to default if you disconnect the battery for twenty seconds or so. Any suggestions appreciated.

Sorry mate, it is a dealer only job as it has to go on the "machine"... However... It is a half hour max job. Where abouts are you based? I may know someone local to you...
