A diesel makes sense for my 120 mile round trip to work. I've toyed with everything from an A2 to a Tourag V10 and compromised - head ruling heart - on a 120d SE.

It's very similar in cost to a 320d, but I like the idea of having a new model. Someone at work said "If you get a 320d, please don't get a black one there are far too many of them in the car park already".

I've usually had quirky cars - integrale, cappuccino, loans of a 500SL and a Marcos, Subaru Imprezza when Subaru still mean you were a farmer, and BMW seems a bit mainstream for me, so I'm loath to go for a 320, but it does seem odd to have a lower tier of car and pay the same for it.

I can't drive one until the dealer gets a demo car in early September. Has anyone here tried a 120d?

Skoda Superb 2.5TDi? Not very mainstram and far far better than a 1 series, beats the hell out of a 3 as well.

Bit on the tiddly side though, n'est-ce pas?

The reason theres no many bloody 3 Series around? Because they're a damn good car.

Can't go wrong with a Bimmer that burns the black stuff though.

Let us know your thoughts when it does arrive though?
