Selling my TVR and I am thinking about a 7! Seen a few 98 R ones with 4.4 V8, 18" alloys, leather, some with TV! 7-10k seems to be the price for a 100k example - is this too good to be true or will this become another nightmare!

Go for it. Just remember that if it does go wrong it will cost. I am looking to replace my 95 730I with something similar.

Check that everything electrical works.

Check the history for recent replacement suspension parts. These lunch bushes and the like very easily. Self levelling and electronically damped sussies are very expensive to replace too.

There are plenty of bargains to be had because not many people want to run a monster V8. Stunning cars, and don't be afraid to look round. Theres loads on offer.

7's also eat tyres expect about 12 - 15k for a set of fronts and about 20k for rears. Also watch for bore wear on the V8's A quick test is to start the engine from cold with AC etc turned off with the drivers door open. Watch the top edge of the door, if there is signifigant movement then there could be bore wear.See here for more details www.lestac.co.uk/bmw/nikasil.htm

Check for service history, accept nothing but a complete service history, preferably BMW if not then reputable specialist.

Ther are plenty to choose from so you can afford to be picky.
